SA technology centre Stage

The Advertiser, SA Business Journal, Tuesday, May 13, 2008, Page 41

South Australia will have its own pavilion in Sydney next week at CeBIT – the Pacific region’s largest business technology trade show.

Eighteen organisations, including the South Australian Government and the SA-based Defence Science and Technology Organisation, will showcase their products.

Adelaide-based company Digislide has exhibited at CeBIT on several occasions and uses the event as an important part of its business strategy.

Marketing manager Tim English said the trade show allowed the company to network with potential clients and business partners.

“The benefits we received last time included a range of business-to-business opportunities” he said.
“The face-to-face contact at the show is invaluable – with our technology in particular it’s the ‘wow factor’ of holding it in your hand that convinces people to invest.”

Mr English said the event, which features more than 750 exhibitors and attracts more than 35,000 visitors each year, was the perfect platform to launch a new product.

“What you’ll see at CeBIT this year is the prototype of our pocket projector,” he said.
“It plugs into mobile phones, iPods and other hand-held devices and is particularly good for travelling salesman or off-the-cuff presentations.”

The Digismart Pocket Projector, which is capable of projecting a 29cm x 42cm image, is also compatible with third generation games consoles such as the Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Managing director of CeBIT organisers Hannover Fairs Australia, Jackie Taranto, said although the event was held in Sydney, exhibitors and visitors came from around Australia and the world.
“This is truly an international event,” she said.

“One in five of of our exhibitors comes from outside of Australia – that’s in addition to the multinational companies with Australian operations that will exhibit at CeBIT Australia.”
